Contrast with starch to reduce white pollution in the textile industry

Green development is an inherent requirement of economic development of high quality, was selected "East Chu excellence" program of Wuhan Textile University Professor Wang Guangzhou, with nearly 20 years of painstaking research, successfully developed a starch graft copolymer slurry, implemented as a textile industrial wastewater Provide technical support from “end management” to “source prevention” to promote energy conservation and emission reduction in the textile industry and achieve green development.

In the production workshop of Hubei Dingxin Environmental Biomass Materials Co., Ltd., the product being produced is called starch graft copolymerized pulp. It is similar to paste, but it is a substitute for polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) used in traditional textile industry. ) an important product. Polyvinyl alcohol is the chief culprit in the textile industry's large discharge of wastewater.

Wang Xiaoguang, Chairman of Hubei Dingxin Environmental Biomass Materials Co., Ltd.: PVA is very harmful to our environment, especially to water bodies. It is called white pollution, non-degradable, new national standards, and there are printing and dyeing factories. The amount of fresh water added per ton of cloth is still 140 tons, and 1 ton of cloth needs 140 tons of water to be rinsed and treated.

As early as 1997, the China National Textile and Apparel Council called for “less or no PVA”, and engineers and technicians are constantly studying to improve the biodegradability of PVA, but it has not achieved good results. Finding PVA replacement products has become the main direction of engineering and technical personnel, and modified starch is considered to be one of the most suitable alternatives to PVA.

Wang Xiaoguang: When the starch is treated, the water consumption can be reduced. Why can it be reduced? Because I clean it off with water. If you like the main chain of PVA desizing, I have to add caustic soda. After adding caustic soda, it can be cleaned, but starch. I only need to cook with water, I can easily withdraw from the plants.

That is, from then on, Wang Xiaoguang, who teaches at Wuhan Textile University, and four professors of Zhitong Daohe and a team of Dr. Haigui, form a research and development team, and “starge” with starch.

After several hundred days and nights of the battle, in 2003, the sample of grafted starch was developed, and the laboratory test results were stable and normal. This made Wang Xiaoguang very excited. In the same year, Wang Xiaoguang won the third prize of Wuhan Science and Technology Progress Award. In order to continue to make a large sample of grafted starch, Wang Xiaoguang almost spent all his savings. After the large sample came out, Wang Xiaoguang painstakingly studied for 7 years. Through his own design and production equipment, he improved the new technology and completed the conversion from experiment to production. In 2014, Wang Xiaoguang and the team completed the sizing experiment, and the synthetic fiber-free PVA experiment was finally successful.

Wang Xiaoguang: When we set up the project, we used the PVA benchmarking standard. All the performances should be imitated by PVA. Basically, we can now compare the performance of starch derivatives with PVA. So we can completely replace PVA.

In 2015, inspired by the “Dongchu Yingcai” project of our city, Wang Xiaoguang led the team to settle in Huangshi, and invested 80 million yuan with investors to establish a production line with an annual output of 5,000 tons of grafted starch. At present, the products are sold to the main producing areas of textile industry such as Nantong, Jiangsu, Puyang, Hubei and Shandong Gaomi.

Xu Yuqiong, deputy general manager of Hubei Dingxin Environmental Biomass Materials Co., Ltd.: Since our factory was produced in January this year, sales have reached more than 10 million in just half a year, and at present, our production cannot catch up with sales, and we are preparing to introduce social funds in the second half of this year. , expand our production line, prepare to produce 50,000 tons, and strive to bring our output value to 150 million.

In June 2018, the starch graft copolymerization slurry was listed in the “Twelfth Batch of China's Printing and Dyeing Industry Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction Advanced Technology Recommendation Catalogue”, which was promoted and promoted in the industry.

Wang Xiaoguang, Chairman of Hubei Dingxin Environmental Biomass Materials Co., Ltd.: If we say that production can continue to expand and expand our second-phase products, we can say that there is a big change in the entire printing and dyeing industry.
